What if a docking station could lock and unlock an e-bike without being connected to the power grid?
We are currently developing an innovative locking dock based on our existing e-Power2 platform, designed specifically for shared mobility projects that require secure bike parking but do not need on-site charging.
How does it work?
Instead of relying on an external power supply, the e-bike’s IoT unit provides power to the dock’s locking mechanism. A dedicated control board manages the locking operations, while an identification system allows the e-bike to recognize individual docks.
We are also integrating docking and undocking detection to verify whether the bike is properly engaged with the dock and whether the mechanical lock has been secured.
What are the key benefits?
- No grid connection required. Installation becomes much simpler, reducing electrical infrastructure work and associated costs.
- Lower infrastructure costs. For projects that only need secure parking and fleet management, there is no need to install powered charging docks.
Built for practical shared mobility applications
This concept is particularly suitable for shared bike fleets and other mobility projects where secure parking is essential, but charging at every docking point is unnecessary.
By rethinking how a dock receives power and communicates with an e-bike, we aim to make shared mobility infrastructure simpler, more flexible, and more cost-effective.
We are turning this concept into a new locking dock solution, building on our experience in docking systems and shared mobility hardware.
More updates to come as development progresses.
